Commercial Window Tinting

Prestige Window Tinting specialises in commercial window tinting, which often requires the use of scaffolding and specialised films for a variety of needs for your multi storey building or even just for your home based office. No job is too big or too small.

Film Types

Frosted Films

For internal partitions (glass between work spaces), perhaps one of our range of frosted or etched glass films might be required to obtain some privacy and to differentiate work spaces. These films can even be cut into designs like blocks or stripes if required and come in a variety of designer colours and finishes.

We can work in with architects or shop fitters if required on this specialised aspect of window tinting to achieve the desired results. Frost films are generally of a white or opaque appearance, but with the full range of 3M Fasara films to choose from, customers could also experiment with gold, pink, blue or green frost films as well as sandblasted and glitter effects to really enhance a room.

Safety Films

Another specialised aspect of window tinting, security film can either be used simply to bring old glass up to current Australian safety standards or to help in the fight against vandalism and theft.

Business owners and building managers have a ‘Duty of Care’ when considering the glass and possible safety issues in their building or workplace. Old glass in buildings may not comply with today’s safety standards .Australian Standard 1288 applies to all glass in buildings with AS2208 particularly dealing with human impact i.e. Safety of people in buildings.

Other uses for Safety Film include:

Home Safety. Whether glass is broken due to storm or cyclone flying debris or simply by accidental damage, safety film will hold the broken and jagged shards of glass together to prevent injury.
Pool/ Balcony Balustrades. Falling glass from a balcony or broken glass around a pool area where people are generally barefoot, both cause major safety issues. In most cases a pool will need to be completely emptied if broken glass enters the water.
Businesses. When a display window is broken, shards of glass will in most cases be found embedded in stock metres from the broken window. All such stock will need to be written off, and the clean up alone will cost valuable downtime for the business.
Family Day Care. All Family Day Care Centres have safety requirements they must comply with in regards to glass. With Day Care now in such demand, many homes are being run as Family Day Care homes. The glass in these homes must now be upgraded to meet current safety standards e.g., coffee tables, cabinets, low level glass, counters as well as window and door glass.
School and Nursing Homes. Schools and Nursing Homes are 2 places where falls can and do frequently happen. Safety Film on the glass will prevent injury due to glass shards if someone falls into and breaks the glass.

Security Films

Security films turn burglary into attempted burglary.

Security Film is a very thick, clear film with a very strong adhesive. With security film applied, the glass will still break but will be strongly held together by the film, requiring many repeated blows, taking a long time and causing a lot of noise, in order to gain access through the glass.

Break and Enter. Thieves want to gain quiet access to your premises and will take their time to steal as much as they can before making their getaway. The best way to prevent this is to make it harder to gain access in the first place. If they have to repeatedly bash the glass before they can even make a small hole, they will more than likely give up and go to find an easier prospect.
Smash and Grab. Speed is of the essence here, a quick brick through the glass and grab what you can and run. Again when the glass breaks but is still held in place, the opportunistic thief will usually not persist and leave to find an easier target.
Security Screens. Security screens do a great job in the fight against burglary. Generally they are applied to the sliding window, in which case we can fit security film to the adjoining fixed pane of glass. Sometimes though, screens are not an option as they would be too unsightly for a display window, this is where security film excels.

Is house window tinting very expensive?

I’ve got to throw my old curtains away and they weren’t that old, can window tinting stop my new curtains from fading?

My friend has had their house tinted and they have ugly light gaps around the edges of the glass, is this the way all tinting is done?

In short … NO. When you have your windows tinted by Prestige Window Tinting, we will go the extra mile to achieve a finished, gap free result. This may entail on older windows, to remove the old seals and replace them with new rubber gaskets (at a fraction of what it would normally cost you) or to disassemble the window frame and reassemble after tinting. If, for some reason this is not possible, you will be informed before any work is carried out.
